When film students and journalism students cross paths in documentary courses, or vise versa, how do instructors clearly and effectively explain the often subtle, yet important, differences between the two disciplines? The panel will discuss strategies for delineating stylistic and structural nuisances. In addition, the panel will showcase examples for teaching legal and ethical distinctions between one’s role as journalist and one’s role as documentarian.
